Specially curated tour to Europe

Quest made its foray in the summer of 2018 with its maiden 16-day tour to Europe covering eight countries with a group of 35 members, most of them from the academic field. The enthusiastic group weathered the first ever 46 degree heat of Italy in the month of July before they could head to the cooler climes of the Swiss Alps. They soaked in the sights, sounds, smells and aura of a rather packed itinerary. For many it was a first time overseas and to Europe and therefore the desire to see as much as they could.

From the art museums of Van Gogh and Rijksmuesum in Amsterdam and the Louvre in Paris to the boat cruise on the river Sienne and the walking tours of Venice, Padova and Milan’s Piazza del Duomo, a 600-year old behemoth cathedral with 3400 statues, the group navigated the many check-ins and check-outs of hotels and cities/countries with a zeal that was at once infectious and endearing. The desire to be photographed alongside two of the wonders of the world – the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eifel Tower were easily fulfilled.
Making the most of the expert guides who were available on the different legs of the tour, the group got a chance to get a sense of history from the ancient period to the renaissance and modern times. Whether it was the bull fighting in the Colosseum, the story behind the unfinished work of Leonardo da Vinci, the life of Anne Frank in one of the darkest periods of Jewish history or the making of the Vatican city, the insights into different eras of European history added tremendous value to the trip not to mention the comradiere and bonding that they shared amongst themselves, evident from all the singing and photo ops all through the bus rides and pit stops.

The day trip to Brugge received a unanimous thumbs-up and so did the leisurely evening stroll in Florence. The countryside trip to Volendam on the outskirts of Amsterdam was a delight where a quiet village greeted them with traditional homes and windmills, wooden clog factories and multiple varieties of Dutch cheese to sample and take back home. The 100-year old clog train to Jungfraujoch - the top of Europe was charming. Scouting the boutique stores for a good deal in swiss chocolates and swiss watches in the beautiful town of ‘Lauterbrunnen’ was charming.

The interest of the group could be seen with requests already in for a special Holocaust tour for July 2020 and a winter Christmas Market tour for December 2019. Meanwhile, based on feedback and experience of this maiden trip, The Quest is ready to announce its Europe 2020 tour and is already getting confirmations.
